Last weekend was Miss A’s secret birthday surprise. We woke up bright and early, and both wore a pretty dress (well Miss A’s was certainly very pretty) and headed off into town. I’m not sure how I kept it a surprise, I think it was only the thought of seeing her face when I did tell her what we would be doing.

Sheer delight!
If you’ve not heard of Build-A-Bear, its a place where you can make different kinds of cuddly bears and stuffed animals. They sell accessories including many different types of shoes and clothing, even wardrobes to put them all in. With the help of the friendly Build-A-Bear staff, you help stuff and bring your bear to life. Your child adds clothing, a heart and fluffs up its hair. Choosing a name so that the bear really does feel like their friend. Sounds fun doesn’t it?
Here is our Build-A-Bear story :
So much choice, but Miss A knew exactly which one she was going for!
A My Little Pony called Fluttershy, just waiting for her to be made into her very own cuddly pony.
Now it was time to stuff her pony with the special machine.
Choose a heart to make it come alive!
The assistant was fantastic, making her jump five times, to match a new age. Chatting to her all the time about her new toy.
Making sure the heart was securely added, we also added the smell of bubble gum (how cool is that!) to the pony, and a Fluttershy sound. So every time Miss A gives her a hug, she will hear one of 6 different phrases or songs and smell a lovely vanilla bubblegum scent.
Time for Fluttershy to be brushed and fluffed up!
Now for the tricky part choosing the clothing and shoes…
There were so many to choose from, but as we had been to Center Parcs and Miss A had ridden a pony and learnt how to roller skate, there could only be one choice!
So off to the dressing station. We are nearly there now…
All finished, our roller skating pony!
Fantastic service, and such a fun thing to do, thank you Build-A-Bear we had a fantastic morning!
And finally, and very importantly…
Do you know a child that is a hero? Build-A-Bear are running a fantastic competition to reward two youngsters with a £3,000 scholarship fund each, as well as £1,500 donation to the winner’s choice of charity.
We at Build-A-Bear Workshop are looking to reward those selfless individuals who go beyond the call of duty to help others, those heroes among us who inspire others through their good deeds.
