Regatta week is upon us in Henley on Thames, and the town is buzzing with excitement. The streets are bustling with visiting rowers, brightly-coloured bunting is draped across the marketplace, and the river banks are teeming with spectators. So this post looks at some of the more nautical trends and picks from a Anne, an interior designer.
A riverside scene from last year’s Regatta
In honour of the Regatta, many local shops and businesses are decked out in nautical colours. In keeping with the theme, here are my top nautical design picks for 2014:
Portlight Mirror, £124
These quirky mirrors have been flying off our shelves. The front of the mirror opens out like a real porthole – perfect for marine-themed bathrooms.
Driftwood Candle Holder, £28.50
I adore the faded simplicity and smooth surfaces of driftwood. This beautiful meshed candle holder would make a perfect centrepiece on any seafarer’s table.
Rustic Boat Bookcase, £85
Long summer days are just meant for reclining in the garden, book in hand. This rustic bookcase, made from Albesia wood, is the ideal place to store your summer reads.
Lexington Sham Cushions, £55
These bold striped cushions make a perfect pair. I fell in love with the delicate white fringing when they first came into the shop, and several of them now lie on my own sofa at home.
Nautical Bunting, £3.99
Henley is always decorated with bright, cheerful bunting during the Regatta. Bring this quintessential piece of British tradition into your own home with these nautical-themed flags.
These seafaring-style picks were brought to you by Anne Haimes of AH Interiors. Anne is a passionate interior designer with over 20 years’ experience, based in Henley-on-Thames, England.
