Portland Dorset : Beach Fun

Portland Dorset, is where we headed off to for our holiday this year.  It’s a small island, just off the coast of Dorset, very near to Weymouth. We had a view of the sea from our courtyard behind the cottage we stayed in.  Chesil Beach, was where we walked to see the sunset each evening. A mere five-minute walk away.

 

It turned out into a very beach themed holiday, even the holiday cottage had lots of beach accessories.

She loved it.  I’ve never bought a bikini for her before, so it took a little getting used to. There were lots of giggles, that people would see her tummy!  It was comfortable, and had some really lovely details, like the frills and ties to the side.  The sizing was true I think.  Miss A is 5 and wears 6-year-old clothes generally, which is what we went for, and it was a perfect fit!

 

I must admit, it was chilly, not really bikini weather!

Nia also had a new bikini, unfortunately as a tween, she was a little camera-shy, so I didn’t get any photographs of her wearing it. It looked fantastic though, pretty, but also had a sporty feel with the board shorts.  This was the set we went for below.  I really love the design on the fabric and the colours, as did Nia.  It was again very comfortable to wear. No annoying seams, and everything fitted extremely well.

A ruffle skirt and colour blocking adorn this bikini, making a fashion statement at the shore or by the pool.

Since our return I’ve washed all the items again (I washed them as the cottage too) they don’t shrink, and dry so quickly.  Perfect to take on holiday.

 

I love interiors, and seeing how people use accessories in their homes.  It was interesting how in a holiday let, with just a few inexpensive details, the owner really did give it a beach feel.  There were working fireplaces in the cottage, the white shell ornaments really appealed to me in the main bedroom.  I also loved the fossil on the living room mantle place, very fitting on the Jurassic Coast.

 

Even the bathroom had some subtle beach additions, best of all was the fact there was a view of the sea from here too!

I know I’m biased, but I can’t resist finishing on this photograph of my beautiful girls!
