‘Chocolate AND Christmas celebrated in one place you say. Try and stop me coming!’
Last weekend we were invited to visit Cadbury World in Bournville village, to join them on the first morning of their Christmas celebration, held every weekend from now until Christmas. 22nd-23rd & 29th-30th November, 6th-7th, 13th-14th, 20th-21st December.
All the fun of Cadbury World, but with Christmas bells on, would be how I would describe it. All the favourite areas are there apart from Purple Planet, which will reopen in 2015 once it has been refurbished. We loved 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, the Bournville Experience museum, The Cafe (we had a delicious meal here) the World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop, and even though I know its winter, the outdoor African Adventure Play Area.
Some Chocolatey Christmas decorations adorn Cadbury World.
Outside Father Christmas’ Grotto
As its Christmas though, there is even more to do. We visited Father Christmas (I cried a little, it was so sweet) in his grotto. He was lovely, we didn’t feel rushed at all, and he spent time talking to us before giving the girls each a gift, and then we had our photograph taken.
Just before we left Father Christmas pointed to the window, in his grotto and said to Miss A ‘…because I am here, and this is a such a magical place can you see that it is always snowing outside’ and it was, through a small window in the grotto, truly magical!
Santa will be in his grotto from 10am – 5.30pm.
There were lots off opportunities to play around with interactive activities. Nia loved making her own Cadbury chocolate wrappers, for these display boards.
Taken just before the 4D adventure started, which we loved. It made us all giggle. I think its important to note that the ride starts in the lift before you get into cinema room, especially for little ones.
Of course never one to dismiss a photo opportunity Miss A met up with the Chuckle Beans.
We then made Freddo Faces. Well they did, luckily I was the one taking the photos.
Finally I wanted to tell you about the new live pantomime Snow White and the Chuckle Beans. With Snow White, the Evil Queen, A Prince, and Muddles, a squeaky voiced comic character. This time it was my turn to have my photo taken. It was everything a Panto should be lots of corny jokes, fun and laughter. I would advise you do this and visiting Santa early though, to avoid the queues.
We had a lovely day at Cadbury world. I think my top tips for a great time would be.
1. It’s essential to pre-book. You are allocated a time slot, and when we were there they ran out around 1.00 pm for the whole day.
2. Allow a good 4 hours. Maybe a little longer, if you are eating a meal there too.
3. Try doing the more popular attractions first, whilst they are not quite as busy. I would say the most popular would be, visiting Father Christmas, the Panto and the 4D adventure.
4. Maybe visit the Cafe in-between times. The hot chocolate and cake would make a very welcome pit stop!
