This Christmas, the thing I am most hoping for, is some time relaxing with my family, I really mean that. I can’t wait to have a couple of weeks off to watch TV, eat lots of cheese, snooze in front of the fire, make s’mores (our Christmas tradition) and eat all the other wonderful Christmas fayre! I Love Christmas, everything about it, the smells, the colours and flavours of Christmas, and from Monday advent starts which is another thing of mine I adore.
In this post, I thought I would let you in on the things I have either being trying out, or hoping for this Christmas, from the girls and Tall Dad.
1. First up the Lumie Bodyclock Iris 500. (£160)
Do you or someone you know suffer from SAD? This is the brand new, from Lumie Bodyclock Iris 500, which combines the benefits of a gradual sunset and sunrise with aromatherapy. Now this is something that I have been using the for the past week, not long, but I shall keep this post updated with all of the results, as we move through the winter.
Winter is a tough time of the year, I think whether you suffer from SAD or not. The nights drawing in, and lack of any sun light, it all seems to sap any energy, making getting up for work harder. I also suffer from disturbed sleep, which can be caused by so many things, but it’s definitely worse for me, at this time of year. So any help getting it back in sync, is very welcome. So that why I wanted to test out this Lumie.
The Lumie Bodyclock Iris 500 has an organic look, and looks neat on a bedside table. It both fades into sunset (this helps you to produce melatonin) as well as gradually brightening, which helps wake you up! Wake-up lights help to keep your sleep cycle on track, boosting mood, energy and productivity levels all day, something that I could definitely benefit from.
The mood lights are extremely adaptable, and I’m still playing around with the settings to get the correct one for me.
- 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 or 90-minute sunset to wind down ready for bed
- 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 or 90-minute sunrise to wake you naturally
Most importantly for me, is that the lights are coupled with Aromatherapy, and there are two chambers that you can fill with essential oils. Choose oils that are suitable for either the for sunset and sunrise cycles. These aren’t included, but I have been using lavender, and Lemon.
The Lumie Iris though is jam-packed with lots of other features including :
- Continuous or intermittent diffusion
- Sunset, sunrise and aromatherapy have a range of options (intensity, duration, 7-day programming) that can be used together or independently
- Dimmable lighting for use as a bedside light
- Nightlight feature
- Snooze feature
- Remote control
- Security option to turn on the light randomly while you’re away
- Back-ups: optional alarm beep, power failure back-up
So far I am loving it, I shall update any changes I’ve had here, after I’ve given it a fair trial. Overall though, it would make a great present for someone this Christmas, or as a treat for yourself.
2. This year, I am lusting after the SkinCeutical Christmas Gift Set – £120
After trying out both the Retexturing Activator Serum and AGE interupter moisturiser, and been amazed at the results, I am thinking I should ask for the Christmas gift set, before my samples run out, *ahem* all in the name of research you understand.
Both products feel so luxurious when you use them, they are a real treat. I am a sucker for trying out new products, especially as I have seen rave reviews for both of these.
The gift box includes: 50ml A.G.E Interrupter and 15ml Retexturing Activator. My skin has a more glowy look since I’ve used them, and it feels incredibly soft, and smooth. There are different different products available based on your skin type, but I chose these two that are specifically to help with ageing.
