I’ve wanted to find a rug for my living room, after the demise of my last rug, for a very long time. Our downstairs has only got hard flooring, so it really was lacking a little softness. My home is also quite dark, so having recently lightened and brightened everywhere with a fresh lick of paint, I had been slowly adding different colours and textures to the space, to change the feel of it.
I’d actually the night before ordering this rug, been watching the Great Interior Design Challenge, and seen a shaggy rug I’d loved being used in one of the room designs. I’d discounted the look before this, so hopped onto the Rug Retailer’s site to see what they had available. There was really an abundance of choice, each clearly defined into type and style.
I think with winter and Christmas coming up, what I really wanted to do was add texture and warmth to my living room, as it’s the place we always like spend time in, at Christmas.
I decided to go for a gold metallic rug, where the yarn used appears flatter, almost like ribbon. It’s really a different and organic feel. I love how it has instantly warmed up the space.
It’s quite a large size at 120 x 180 cm and really reasonably priced at £114. There are various sizes available though. My old rug, I needed to buy a non-slip mat to go underneath it, as it slipped and slid everywhere, this however really doesn’t need one at all.
I’m very smitten with my new shaggy rug…and I think Bennett the dog is too!
Visit the Rug Retailer, for whatever kind of rug you are looking for. They have a huge selection, of modern and traditional rugs. They have handmade rugs, hallway runners, washable and children’s rugs, an amazing selection!
Disclosure : I was sent a rug in order to write this post. My thought expressed here however are 100% accurate and my own.
