Having enough bathroom storage can be a real problem no matter what size of room you have. In this piece I thought I would give some tips on the best storage ideas, that you can use, to keep it feeling like the calm oasis that it should be. Whether you are a single person for a penchant for buying lots of fancy toiletries or a family being over run by bath toys.
Assess the space and what you need to store.
Whether you are starting from scratch, or adding to your existing storage, it’s so important to think about what you need to store or hide away. Make a list of what these things are, so you can tick it off when you find a solution. Some things might be too pretty to hide, but I have ideas for that too, which I will cover later.
Look at the space that you have carefully, make a drawing or plan of the room, take photographs and print them off, if drawing isn’t you thing. If you print them onto paper, you can then draw on the photographs your ideas, or stick magazine examples onto them. Looking at a room this way, and with fresh eyes, helps you to see the potential that is in that unloved corner. Remember to look at different levels in the room too, even the space above a door, sometimes it pays to think a little creatively, to make the most of small spaces.
One of the simplest, and most effective storage solutions are bathroom cabinets:

Bathroom cabinets are not used just to store things away, in fact lots of them have a dual purpose. They can be used to add light (in the form of LED’s) to the room, as well as a mirror perhaps, keeping the room feeling airy and spacious and reflecting the light or a view.
Some items, are better stored away and hidden, especially if you have items in reserve. So how about a cabinet to keep all of the extra loo rolls, shampoos and toothpaste? I think this is essential. Make sure that you consider items that you don’t want people to get a hold of, especially children, and think about a lockable cabinets for all of those medicines and even razors.
Putting it all on display:
Sometimes the items that you want to store, are just too pretty to hide away. So why not think about open shelving, or using items like glass jars grouped together to put gorgeous things in, so you can enjoy their beauty. I recently did an ensuite makeover in my home, and I used vintage tea-cups to keep some of my bits and bobs tidy.
Get organised:
Declutter, throw old and out of date things away. It seems so simple, but empty (or nearly so) bottles that are just hanging around are taking up that valuable space.
Hooks can be really effective, we have ones for our bathrobes, but they could be used for other things too. How about attaching different coloured ribbon to hang towels up, a colour for every family member? We have kept our hooks close to the towel radiator, so as to the bathrobes warm, and this really works well. If you have the space for a laundry basket, it can really help keep a room and floor organised. Baskets of towels are also a good idea, if you are struggling for space, how about rolling them up, rather than folding them, the same way hotels do? At a hotel we stayed at recently, the spare towels were rolled and places on a shelf above the door. Simple but very effective.
So these are some of my storage solutions in a bathroom, can you think of any more you would like to add?

Great ideas, Ana. I would also add a towel shelf. In hotels they put it above the bath tub. Some shelves have a railing as well so you can have 4 – 6 towels on it. I think hotels are great for bathroom inspiration because the space is usually small but well thought out.

Brilliant ideas! I agree with Karolina about towel shelf/shelves. Still very stylish.
