Leather Chesterfield Sofa
I am talking leather sofa’s of course! I have for the past 11 years of owning my own home, plumped for a leather sofa in my living room. Before that I tried fabric, and a random (donated to us) non leather sofa, but I think for me once I had gone down the real and quality leather route, I will now never go back!
So what are the reasons I would always choose a leather sofa over any other?
Well, I should start by saying, my eldest daughter, who is now 12, was the main reason we made that choice. As the non leather sofa we had at the time, lasted just one year before we had to change it. The thing is when you have children, they are natural climbers, and don’t care if they have their shoes on or not. They have always got sticky fingers, and I *ahem* like to have the odd glass of red wine of an evening. These are all things that can quickly spoil the look and feel of a sofa. However with a good quality leather sofa, they are far more forgiving of all of these things, and much more robust. Armed with some leather cleaning products and leather feed, it will improve with age rather than spoil.
I am also a real fan of the look and feel of leather as well. To me it seriously more comfortable than other fabric, has a luxurious and almost decadent feeling. They age well and adds a warmth to a room that no other fabric can. I would recommend looking at how the frame is built, hardwood is best in my opinion. Also, a little like a bed, if you go for something from a reputable company like Furniture Village, they have leather sofas which have zig-zag springs at the seat and back, they stay the tests of time better too!
I think they are versatile style wise too, and would suit a modern or traditional home. My living room is quite retro in style, and my golden leather sofa’s with sloping arms look perfect.
