I have a great new giveaway for you today. A handmade iPad and iPhone dock made of solid oak that can also be personalised. This is actually a new design from These Fair Hands, and I have been sent one to review and give my thoughts on.
These Fair Hands are a small family business based in Hampshire, specialising in creating beautiful, handcrafted, personalised wooden gifts and accessories for the home and outdoors.
All of their products are handmade using responsibly sourced timber.
I was also in the unusual position as to be able to see the piece being hand crafted, as the owner sent me these images.
It really is beautifully made and finished to such a high standard. As you can see we chose to have it personalised with my daughter’s name, with two stars either side. She’s so lucky isn’t she? I’m going to save it, and give it to her for Christmas, this is too precious to not be wrapped up and opened excitedly on Christmas morning!
It arrived beautifully packaged, and in bubble wrap to avoid damage, finished in hard wax oil.
It has two long grooves for items to be ‘docked’ in. The front groove has three points/holes to give access to a charger cable and back groove has one. It can accommodate lots of different combinations at once. For example, up to three mobile phones and a tablet, or even four phones if you didn’t want to use it for a tablet.
There are entry points for cables at four points in total on the dock, and each of these points have rubber cushions, so your device fits snug. It is made with apple products in mind, but could be used with other makes too I would imagine.
Dimensions: L 250mm, W 1170mm, H 45mm. The device Slots are 13mm wide and 11mm deep.
Priced at £45, which includes personalised text carving of your choice on the front face. You can have up to 12 characters, including spaces. I would recommend if you wanted more, to ask the question before you order, as a special request may be possible.
Once the cable/s are in ready, it doesn’t affect the stability of the dock, they fit very neatly in place.
I find cables can be easily damaged, and I think having them in a system like this not only looks neat, and keeps everything together, I think it might actually help with the wear and tear of the cables.
I tried the iPad both portrait and landscape and it fits neatly both ways.
There are many other products available on the site including docks for single iPhones, which would make great gifts for a teeneager or parent this Christmas I think, as well as a family version. I also love the egg and welly rack, very cool!
