I can’t tell you how excited I was to receive an email about reviewing a Harrods Christmas hamper. I remember as a child we once shared a Harrods Christmas pudding on Christmas day, and quite frankly we are all still talking about it more than 25 years later!
When I think of Harrods, I think of traditional luxury, the ultimate kind, where everything is of the highest quality. Harrods is known all over the world, as the ultimate in department stores, and treasured in the UK because of this.
I chose The Knightsbridge hamper, filled to the brim with Christmas treats. It arrived in a cardboard box, and within it was a square, leather lidded hamper basket. I’m sure I can put this wicker hamper to great use once Christmas is over. All of the items were individually wrapped within the hamper, in a way that kept them safe on their long journey from Knightsbridge to Nottingham.
We gathered as a family to excitedly decant the box together. It felt like a very early Christmas treat, that Santa’s elves had mistakenly left behind. As I emptied the box I noticed the famous gold lettering on all of the items, and the Harrods crest too.
There was red wine, champagne, chutney and jams, mince pies and Christmas cake. All items that won’t last long I’m sure. With chocolate, turkish delight, tea and coffee to wash them both down. The hamper even include a Harrods bottle opener and a Christmas bauble, a fabulous finishing touch.
I must admit, I feel rather special receiving such a treasure. We couldn’t resist a try of a few things, and we especially loved Rioja Crianza, which we shared with some cheese and a little of the Boxing day chutney, both were packed full of fruit! The rest we shall save until the big day, we will be having a big family Christmas this year, so it definitely won’t last long.

How lovely. The only thing I miss I miss about corporate life is the Harrods or Fortnum & Mason hamper our boss used to buy the staff every year. Enjoy every mouthful.

yes a treasure indeed – what a special hamper! I have harrods memories from childhood when my dad would take us in there and he would buy himself a small treat whenever we visited London – and he was one of those harrods carrier bags carriers – he would then use his carrier bag everywhere he went to show that he’d been to harrods!
