I think they are completely mad in design and that’s what I love about them the most. Bold use of colour and a really unusual design. Each pair of embroidered slippers take around 40 hours to complete, and definitely feel beautifully made by hand and comfortable to wear. Using traditional skills passed from mothers to daughters through the generations. It also important to point out that these entrepreneurial women are earning a fair wage. They’re providing for their families and contributing to their economy too. Inspirational!
When women help other women, then together they walk on a proven route out of poverty. Woolenstocks just make that walk all the softer!
As Kyrgyz women stitch your Woolenstocks today, their aspiration is to recreate these ancient meanings that have stood the test of time. Making your slippers earns them a living, yes. But they are also pouring all their skill, vision and talent into your slippers to make them beautiful – just for the love of it.
With slippers or boots for grown up as well as little ones, they have a great range available, so if you are looking for something a little different that supports women then I definitely recommend them.
