Anyone else obsessed with handmade woven baskets? Not only useful but beautiful too! I’ve found a selection of just some of these gorgeous baskets made by remote communities in Western Uganda for both Homesense and TK Maxx.
The collection has been updated for Autumn, so bang on trend and I wanted to show you what was on offer and also highlight why I’m going to be purchasing something from the range.
The baskets (a selection of which I’ve included in the imaginary on this post) are made with local materials and come in a wide range of contemporary shapes, bright colours and designs. I love that these are showpieces of traditional weaving techniques of the families involved, some of which they’ve revived and redeveloped for this campaign. True artisanal pieces!
Exclusively available at both TK Maxx and Homesense there are warm autumnal colours along with calming monochrome and even some metallic accents to keep your home on trend for the new season. Within the range you will find basket, bowls all hand-woven, horn dishes and glassware. Homesense and TK Maxx is supporting parents by generating increased incomes, through sale and production of coffee, cocoa, cotton and craft. The money generated will help children complete their primary education. This initiative started in 2008 and enabled over 10,000 children to go to school. Since the sustainable trade project started in 2011, there has been a 40% increase of children finishing primary school education.
This set would be perfect I think for a children’s room to stash treasure and toys,
whilst still looking cool, definitely on my wish list!
I love shopping at both Homesense and TK Maxx, the pure joy of never knowing what you will find there is always a thrill. I have bagged so many bargains that are amazing quality (it’s up to 60% less) over the years. For an interiors lover like me, Homesense (part of the TK Max family) has everything you might need for the home. Whereas TK Maxx sells much more, but includes a great homeware section too. Often, I don’t know quite what it is I want or need, but find it, plus a few things extra! I think its best to visit regularly though, as they receive huge deliveries every week, so there’s always new things to find.
I’m searching for something to have at the top of my stairs, and either of these would work perfectly!
I’d love to know what you think, which style is your favourite?
