I was thinking the other day that it get easier buying gifts for my girls as they get older, then I realised it’s not that, just as they get to the teen years, they just get a whole lot more prescriptive about what they would love to receive. Lets face it as the Mum to a teen girl, she pretty much knows I am the least ‘trendy’ (she wouldn’t even use that word) person she knows. However I ALWAYS (twitches nose in a bewitched fashion) end up surprising her, and for at least one day a year I manage to keep my crown as the best present giver she knows.
This year she has pretty much said, all she would like is clothes and maybe a pair of trainers, which is all in hand but I wanted to let you in on a few added extras she’ll be getting, that I just know she will love, and hopefully will spark up your imagination too.
Fiction
I did some research on books that Nia hadn’t read yet. I actually found someone on Instagram – Blue Eye Biblio who writes mini reviews about books that she’d read and recommended for teens, that was really helpful. These were the three titles I went for, all recommended as suitable for her age group. Turtles All The Way Down is a new title from John Green that has had rave reviews.
Next up, is Magn!tone First Step – £40. Being a teen can be tough, with the rush of hormones, and the inevitable problems with skin. I’m always on a look out for new things she hasn’t tried, and she’s really into both makeup and skin products. So this year she’ll be trying the First Step Magn!tone. Here’s a little more information about it.
With Vibra-Sonic technology and Antibacterial bristles to deep-cleanse, control impurities and reduce excess oils, for more balanced, healthy skin and a reduction in breakouts.
First Step deep-cleanses and removes impurities to balance skin oils and help reduce breakouts. In just 7 days, the Vibra-Sonic technology will clear out pores and gently buff the skin’s surface for clearer, softer, beautifully conditioned skin… in a way hands could only dream of doing.
Comes complete with the Skinsoft™ Antibacterial brush head that’s both soft on skin and uniquely protected by Biomaster; 100% natural and proven to guard against 99.9% of bacteria that can form on brushes between use, meaning your skin always gets the best treatment, especially if it’s is prone to unwanted breakouts.
She hasn’t used a brush of this kind before, but she’s been left very impressed with it so far. We will be doing a comprehensive review of it in the new year.
More beauty and fragrance fun with these gifts sets. The first is something I remember loving when I was her age, and its body sprays. This is three 100 ml moisturising body mists infused with Yardley London’s Eau de Toilette fragrances – £14. They absorb easily, leaving it feeling beautifully soft, smooth and delicately fragrance – English Rose, English Bluebell and English Dahlia.
Next up is the Pixie Lott Paint Washout Hair Colour Mix – £11.99, now unfortunately my daughter can’t use these as she has dark brown hair and you need to have natural or bleached blonde hair, but we will be giving it to to her freind who will love using it over the summer. Pixie does a great selection of products that you can see more about on the link above.
Do you have a teenager who loves the gum too? Nia is a member, and so I thought this gift set of small versions of the Bramley range would be perfect. This set contains our 50ml Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Bubble Bath & Body Lotion – £18. There are no nasty chemicals or artificial colours and nothing is tested on animals.
Eyebrows
Rachel Jackson London Triangle Stud Earrings – £40. These are just gorgeous aren’t they. I love the shape and the brand’s signature triple diagonal stripe detailing. I wanted to buy her something that she could wear all of the time that were a different to her round studs. They are 22 carat gold-plated on sterling silver.
Now this is the a great hairdryer from Nicky Clarke, Supershine – £54.99. Its powerful at 2200W, has Ionic conditioning technology that helps hair retain moisture, whilst eliminating static and frizz for salon-smooth results. It’s really comfortable to use, not too heavy and is a really cute colour too. It also has a really decent length power cord.

The Natural Spa Company do some great products that are perfect for teens, and of couse older customers too. They’ve actually this year created a Teen Skincare Pamper Gift Box – £28. A selection of their best-selling products suited to younger skin, including facemasks and body scrubs. One of the products that is particularly good is the Capsule Collection Day Cream, infused with sweet almond oil and pomegranate oil, perfect for nourishing sensitive & youthful skin.
Thats the final gift guide I will be writing this year, I do hope I’ve inspired you, and if I have please let me know in the comments.
