With Valentines day just around the corner, I wanted to take the time to share with you some ideas of what to do for your partner this Valentines. Now I’m not a big believer in buying material things to show your love. For me, it all about the meaning behind things, and experiences you have together. Sit down and research what they would really like, a gesture of love if you will. Think about those early days you were together, something that sparks a memory that you treasure.
The Gift of What They Love
My husband loves to cook and experiment with food. He doesn’t get much chance to in the week, but at the weekend is when he lets his culinary genius and juices flow. It with this in mind, I would say the perfect thing to add to a Valentine Hamper would be to add something that you know your partner loves, but perhaps doesn’t have time for. Maybe even something that they wouldn’t ever get themselves. So in my case, I would include a cookery class, or an unusual cooking gadget that will inspire them.
Pamper
We all love a pamper or just to relax for a while don’t we? Now this could be the simplest of things, a vouchers for a massage from you together with a gift of musk or woody smelling body oil. A facemask and a book that you know they’ve had their eye on, or how about a homemade bath melt?
Their Favourite Tipple
No need to buy a full bottle for the hamper, you can buy smaller bottles such as 5cl Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb from Just Miniatures. They also sell Champagne, Prosecco and Champagne Flutes if that’s more to your taste.
In the past I have made a Valentine cocktail for the occasion. So I thought I would share with you a cocktail that I will be making this Valentines Day, one that I know will be very gratefully received.
Mojito
- Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold or Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum a blend of rum from Guyana’s Diamond Distillery and a lighter rum from Trinidad, blended with cloves, natural spices and determination to create this intriguing and unique Rum.
- 15ml. Freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2tsp white caster sugar
-
Mint leaves
-
Soda water
-
Mint sprig to garnish
As simple as 1, 2, 3!
-
MIX IT – Add spirit, lime juice, sugar & mint to glass or jug & mix until sugar is dissolved.
-
ICE IT – Add cubed ice & soda then stir.
-
SERVE IT – Top with a big sprig of mint.
The reason I chose this cocktail is because it reminds me of the Mint Julips we drank whilst on Honeymoon in New Orleans. So that’s three ideas from me, what would be in your Valentine Hamper?
