Anyone else have a storage issues in your bathroom? Well we definitely do in our main bathroom, and its something I’ve been looking at tackling as we do a big declutter of the house.
As this bathroom is used mostly by the teen and my youngest daughter, it tends to be a bit of a mess every morning. Nia, likes everything out on display, and it’s been driving me nuts that the window sill, sink and side of the bath seem to where she stores everything. They are piled high and messy with contact lenses, glasses, cotton pads and hair bobbles. It was becoming unmanageable, and it won’t be long before Miss A (whos 7) will be wanting to add to that clutter too.
The room is very small, with a bath, sink (with a storage cupboard underneath) towel radiator and loo, and that’s it. Finding something that works in that space is hard, it also needed to be open storage, to satisfy how Nia likes to operate, blurry eyed in the morning. Plus be able to hold spare hand towels and loo roll, as I’d had to move a wicker box that those were stored in previously to fit a larger storage unit in.
There was lots of metal open storage in the bathroom section on the site, and once I saw this style I knew it would be perfect. Each of the baskets clip into the metal wire frame which is thick steel. It does have an industrial feel, but the shape of it softens that look. To discourage anything being on the window sill, I also picked up some grey candles and styled those next to the radio.
Here is the wire storage section on the site. If our bathroom wasn’t tiled everywhere I definitely would have gone for the wall racks which look so cool.
Update : I did have a link to the wire storage unit, but I think its sold out now, it was approx £80.
Finally, as it was just before Christmas, I also bought a set of 6 birds on clips for the tree, so cute aren’t they.
Jan Update : We’ve been living with the bathroom this way for three weeks now, and it definitely has encouraged the girls to keep it tidier. It’s not perfect, but so much better than it was. I added storage tins, for their bits and bobs, and I found a jar perfect to store Nia’s contact lenses in.

One thing you need in a bathroom or toilet is a place where to put magazines 🙂 if you know what ai mean 😀
