I have been doing up my living room, for the past couple of months. Most of this time has been spent, carefully sourcing things that we like, and waiting for things to be delivered.
For this weeks I love Mondays post, I thought I would share with you the new, and complete (I think) desk area that is now in my living room. I absolutely love it. It has transformed how I work. I have had to do some bargain hunting to get what I wanted, but I am so happy with the result. The first bargain is the desk itself. It is no longer being sold by Laura Ashley, but when it was, it was over £600. We managed to get a bargain on eBay for £180. Its made of solid oak, and is extremely well made. It’s a fairly small size, and perfect for the corner where we wanted it.
You can also see a paperweight, in blues, this was from TK Maxx (£2.99). The box file, I would like to not have really as it clutters the area. It is great, however to keep any paper work in, of upcoming blog posts, press releases, and press packs from events. So for now it needs to stay, unless I can find a better way of storing them. Also on the left is the shredder that I reviewed, it been great too, I am now a shredding monster!
I am absolutely in love with my lamp from John Lewis, priced at £45. It is my favourite thing on my desk, I love the colour, and the fab shadow patterns it makes in the evening. I think John Lewis, has the best selection of lighting, this is more like an ornament than a lamp and it make me smile lots!
The desk, from a different angle. I took a long time deciding on a chair. This is version of the Eames chair, with dowling shaped legs. I went for the black colour in the end, as I still have black in the room, and I thought it anchored the whole area. Again a bargain, at £35, I have seen similar versions for much more. Underneath is a brown leather bureau, that I already had. I keep magazines and clippings in there, for when I need to use them.
I also bought the two cream frames (next to the canvas) for £4.99 from TK Maxx. I am so happy with the end result for so many reasons. I love that it is helping me stay completely organised, and everything has its place. I now can work at night, with much better lighting, and the chair is very comfy.
So there you go, a slightly differently I love Monday post, what do you think to my choices?
Thank you for reading

How great to have a dedicated space! I have the bottom end of the dining room table 😉
You’ve made it look really lovely and functional. I definitely need to get a box like that – things just get lost otherwise. And the desk – I love it!

I was drooling over this the other day I didn’t get to ask you where it was all from. It is gorgeous. My Gran had a bureau and I have been on the hunt for one for ages. I bought a glass topped IKEA desk in the short term, but one day I must find my perfect bureau. Love all the little touches too. It blends in beautifully with your living room.

Thank you Penny. I’m so chuffed with it. I tried to make it separate but blend in, so I’m pleased you think I achieved that. I started out looking for a original bureau but just could find one the right size or style, love this one though.

Looks like a nice uncluttered place to collect one’s thoughts unlike my Jenga style, take your life into your own hands, bureau. Perhaps I should do a post on it? 😀
Amanda Cottingham says
You must! I’d love to see it, is it vintage, I bet it’s gorgeous.
