Its been some time since I updated you, on how our little puppy Bennett is doing. Well, he’s not so little, and he is really developing a into a funny character now. I’m not even sure I can remember life without him, Bennett has just slotted right into the Ana Mum Diary family.
Once he had all of his injections, and was microchipped, we got him a collar, lead and a name tag, just in case he wandered off. I seem to have a problem with ordering things too large at the moment, the name tag is huge, I hoping he doesn’t grow to match its size, as I think it’s meant for a Great Dane…oops! We have also taken out dog insurance, in fact I spoke to the my vet about it when Bennett was being chipped. She offered great advice, as to the amounts you could insure a dog for, and what the procedure was if we ever needed to make a claim. I feel so much better now we have it.
The next stage, or should I say, the next part of our doggy adventure was dog walking. We couldn’t wait until we could take him out for a walk. The first two times though were disastrous, and I ended up carrying him the whole way. He really was flummoxed by the whole walking thing, I think he thought, why walk, when some one will carry me like a baby!
Well it only took twice, and by the third outing, he got it sussed. He now is an old pro, it’s so funny, when he gets to the end of our road, and literally gallops, pulling me like a husky dog, trying to get home. Bennett has been loving making friends too, and I am amazed how sociable having a dog is. I have not been out once without being stopped at least once (but usually its a dozen times) by either fellow dog walkers, or just people out for a stroll. Everyone thinks he looks like a teddy bear, and I’ve got to agree, he really does. He seems particularly taken with anything crossed with a poodle, and as a Lhasapoo (A Poodle and Lhasa Apso combined) maybe he knows his own?
The girls both love him, and he has addressed the male/female balance in the house , nicely too! Bennett, has been the perfect addition to our family, and we just love having him.
