In this post, I thought I would look at the different finishes available for laminate flooring and the rooms that would be suitable to use it in. Whilst researching this post, on the Carpet Right site, I was amazed at the different finishes that were available and the fantastic laminate flooring offers available.
So why choose laminate flooring? Well quite simply, why not! It is perfect for the busy family home or if you have pets, as it is so easy to keep clean, also great for allergy sufferers. With many beautiful designs, that give the impression that you have you wooden flooring, tile flooring or even stone flooring. It is durable and stain resistant, and suitable for most rooms in the home.
I am going to start with my personal favourite ‘Chateau White Rustic’:
Perfect I think for a kitchen, it really gives the impression that you have recycled old wine and fruit crates, to create an extremely unusual flooring. I would match this with quite plain but rustic country kitchen cabinetry, to complete the look. I love how aged the laminate looks, it is just so effective. It is actually suitable for a lounge, dining room, kitchen and even a bedroom. I just wish I owned the country cottage to put it in.
Next up, how about this for the dinning room :
The above ‘Longleat Renaissance Oak’, which has a very realistic, grey aged oak look. It is a wide plank laminate but extra-long too, which looks great in larger rooms, optically extending the space. As with the Chateau White Rustic before, it is actually quite thick at 9mm, and so when walked on, it gives an authentic sound of wooden flooring. It also has a ‘Chrome Zone’ surface finish that creates a realistic wooden effect. Perfect I think for a dining room or hallway but it is also suitable for a lounge, kitchen and bedroom too.
For the bedroom :
I love the colour and pattern of this ‘Eden Artic Wood’ as seen here in a Nursery. What a great idea, with all of spills that can happen in a childs room, it would so easy to clean. I am in fact, a big fan of Laminate in the bedroom, and I have it in mine, make cleaning under the bed, far easier! This is a great price, as is currently reduced to 11.99 per square metre. I would always recommend underlay to cushion the laminate too.
Do what do you think to my choices? Do you have laminate flooring, and would you also recommend it?

You have made some great choices.
We had laminate, then we didn’t and now we certainly do. It was a nightmare without it – how do you clean the glue, glitter, paint out of the carpet – how do you cope with spills and accidents (toileting). No we love our laminate.

Completely agree! Now we have a puppy I am so happy we don’t have carpet at all on the ground floor 😉

Some of the benefits of laminate flooring is that it is made up from by products of wood, so there is no cutting down trees. It is also very hard wearing, water resistant and scratch resistant due to the top layer being made from a resin coating.
