When you become a parent, there is an unwritten rule that you now need to get a craft stash together. Believe me, get this right and all those rainy days, last-minute emergency play dates and preschool crafty sessions you have been asked to run, will always be covered.
My own stash is a little overflowing, as I also love craft, and collect things to reuse for craft sessions. So here is my small but perfectly formed list of craft supplies that every parent should own.
Of course, once you get going you will add things to this craft list, but with a trip to The Works craft supply shelves, you can for under £18, get everything that you would need for a capsule craft box. Add to that things that you can find around your home and you are all set.
Both watercolour and poster paint packs for £4.99, there is a paint brush included, but think about finger painting or potato printing too, there’s nothing a child loves more than getting messy!
An essential for sticking things, whether it’s for model making of old cereal packets, or gluing old magazines onto paper, an absolute bargain at £1.99.Believe me, there is something magical about seeing children crafting with glitter. Every child loves these, and I really recommend, getting a selection of stickers to use, great for making birthday and thank you cards This pack of over 2,000 costs just £3.99.Coloured pencils are one essential a craft box really can’t do without £2.99
Around the Home
Don’t forget though, to collect things from around the home. I would suggest cereal, pulses and dried pasta. Keep magazines, toilet roll tubes, tissue paper, newspapers, old birthday cards, wrapping paper and ribbon. All these things together with the items you have bought above will complete a capsule and ultimate craft supplies kit for kids.

Wow Amanda you’ve nailed it on the head, just a week back while packing his school bag my son asked me that please put the Glue in his bag otherwise his name will be in defaulters list and we did have any glue at home, i had to rush to my friend’s house in the mid night to borrow the glue. Absolutely we must have these items at home and that too extra in number. Thanks for coming up with this post.
