It’s actually incredible, the change to a room that new flooring can make. A while ago I talked about the different laminate floors that are available from Carpetright. In this post I wanted to highlight four trends in carpets in 2014. Traditionally changing your flooring is something we look at doing in the Autumn and Winter. Whatever room you are looking to carpet, and whether you have the budget for pure wool or need something more man made and hard wearing, carpet is known for adding comfort and warmth to a room.
Pattern:
There has be a huge surge in sales of patterned carpets, and not just stripes as below in a hall, stairs or landing. Gone are the days of gordy brown 70’s designs though, patterns are more subtle. With aged vintage designs becoming very popular. I must admit, I’m tempted with this kind of look. How about checks, for a smart regular patterned carpet? One thing to remember is that more colourful and bold patterns, are usually better suited to a large room.
Going your own way
This is another one that suits my style, how about you?
Its all about expressing yourself, maybe even being a little eccentric in your choice? In the below lifestyle image, you can see how teaming together different coloured carpets, but all the same style is the perfect example of this. The pops of colour really makes a statement in a very individual and eclectic look. If you were looking to recreate something like this, I would recommend getting some samples from your local Carpetright so you can have an idea how it will look in your own home.
Colour
There are so many colour choices on the market now, Don’t just keep the colour for a main or child’s bedroom carpet though, have you considered it for for a living room? I would recommend that you go for a colour that you really love, so you don’t go off it quickly. Perhaps a shade or two darker or lighter than the accent colour on the room, making it contrast.
Texture
If you are going for a more subtle carpet in a neutral tone, something that adds interest is texture. Great if you are wanting to use the same carpet in lots of rooms. There are lots of texture available including flatter herringbone designs, or full on shag pile.
Which is your favourite?
