I am slightly obsessed at the moment with cacti. Did you know there are over 2,000 species of cacti, with various shapes and forms. These spines or spikes are actually the cactus leaves.
I think I love them the most as they look so amazing, like little works of art. They are a great way of adding colour, nature, texture and something a little different to your home.
In some places they use cactus spines as sutures, after they have been first sterilized on hot coal, cool huh?
Cacti are a sort of succulent, but a succulent is not always a cactus. Sounds like a riddle…
A true cactus has a little ring of hair or fluff where the spines come out, you can see this clearly on the above image.
Do you love them too, or are they a little too spiky for your liking? I’d love to know what you think.
If I have piqued your interest, I have a fantastic Pinterest board that is a collection of all things cacti including succulents, I dare you not to be obsessed like me!

I love cacti and succulents, probably because they’re so minimalistic and don’t overload a room but add a subtle touch of green. Plus, both my dad and nan bred them as a hobby while I was little x

Ooh really?! I’ll be asking you then when I need some advice 😉

They haven’t won me over yet……however maybe I’ve just not found the right one of the 2000 species! This one does look very cute in the teacup though.

They grow on you I think…Thank you! It was lovely to meet you the other day. X

Nice to meet you the other day too, it was my first proper event so was feeling a little nervous! So sorry I didn’t really chat much, didn’t get much time either. Maybe another event!

I really do love them but I’m like the grim reaper for anything green that enters our home. I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with me.
Amanda Cottingham says
Me too, I’m not great at the old watering malarkey with house plants, but I seem to doing ok with these…

I love the little cactus in a cup and saucer, it looks so pretty.

They are interesting plants and quite architectural really. They are also easy to look after which is good for me as usually I’m the kiss of death when it comes to house plants! By the way, the teacup as a planter is inspired! Might have to pinch that idea 😉 xx
