The ultimate test for a washing machine in our home (and I think many others) is the holiday test, so that exactly what I have done to put this new to the market Siemens Avantgarde iSensoric washing machine through its paces.

Post holiday, you really give your washing machine a good work out. Not only do you have cases full of washing to catch up on, but what about all that bedding you changed just before you left and the towels too? So I decided to see how efficiently and well I could get though this washing using my new machine. They needed to be washed well, but as I had 6 loads to do in one day, I didn’t want to be hanging around!
With three loads of dark clothes and the same of lights and whites, I set about working what programme to use to wash them. The great thing I found is that even if I choose a cotton wash which usually takes nearly three hours, I could then also use the ‘speed’ function which cuts the time down to an hour. Using the speed function I found you could use on nearly all of the programmes and its perfect for scenarios like this when you need to get on top of the washing.
Did it wash well though? Yes it did, even though I lowered the temperature of every wash to 30 degrees too, this programme was perfect for freshening up clothing and in just over three hours I was down more than half of the washing I needed to do. Bedding I decided to try the Hygiene cycle, as I’d not used this before. It had a longer wash cycle, but gets fabrics hygenically clean, and is especially kind to sensitive skin. This washed the bedding brilliant, and because the drum is such a good size (9kg) once spun the bedding came out fairly wrinkle free and dry.
I had a very small wash left, and this I did on a delicate wash, it was quick, and washed the items without harming them at all.
The more I use this machine, the more impressed I am by it. I like that it leaves the clothes very clean and fresh smelling, I can actually smell the detergent/fabric softener. Items I had be struggling to get clean like white school socks, now come out much better than they ever have before. I love that filling the machine with detergent is something I rarely think about. I know its going to measure out the correct amount depending on how soiled and how full the wash is. Perfect, and another thing I don’t have to worry about.
Overall this machine looks and feels well made, built to last and has exceeded my expectations. I’d actually love to try the same model machine but as a drier!
