This is a review of the Avantgarde iSensoric Washing Machine by Siemens. Last week, I wrote about my first impressions of the machine, you catch that post HERE. I’ve now been using the machine for over two weeks, so thought it a perfect time to give you an update on how I was finding it, and some of the features that I love.
First up, once it was all plumbed in, I set about familiarising myself with the machine. The main difference I noted was that instead of adding detergent and softener to each and every wash, I instead added them now by filling the i-Dos dispenser drawer, located where a standard machine would house them. The drawer actually has a much larger capacity, holding 1.3 litres in the liquid detergent, and 0.5 litres in fabric softener.
You can see the symbols on the drawers, its easy to flip each of the lids and add the liquids. There is also a MAX mark, so that you don’t overfill. To the left you can add extra cleaning product, for example stain remover. The LED display, will show not only if you need to refill the dispenser (the display flashes) but also at what dosage the machine will use the detergent and softener, depending upon the program that you use. It’s recommended that you keep to the same product when you refill, and don’t mix two different manufacturers. However if you have used the detergent up completely then simply clean the dispensers first before refilling.
Now as many people do, I live in hard water area. So was a little worried that this would mean my clothes wouldn’t clean very well. However (following the simple instructions) I was able to change my machine from the factory settings to hard water area ones.
I kept it at light soiling, but if you live in a household that has heavy or very light soiling of clothes, then you can also alter this too, and there is a handy guide to help you do this. You can of course change this on a each individual wash you do, if you need to as well.
I’m loving the iDos system for two reasons, it means I can fill it up and forget about it, which appeals to me. The main reason though, is because it is automatically dispenses I don’t add too much, which I have a tendency to do. The clever i-Dos function automatically determines the correct amount of detergent for each wash cycle, dispenses it precisely down to the millilitre. It does this by examining your laundry with sensors and calculates the required amount of detergent based on various factors such as type of fabric, load size, and especially the degree of soiling. I am sure I will save money on buying detergent because of this.
iDos not for you? Well you can turn it off altogether, but in my opinion in the time I have been using the machine, it works very effectively.
The Washing Cycles
There are 20 different wash cycles, and then within those you can make different decisions such as speed, prewash, eco and easy iron. I’ve had lots of time to experiment, and I’ve found my way around all of the cycles easily, and definitely have my favourites. I love that I can very easily change the spin and the temperature of each wash and this is something I do very often, as I like to wash at a very low temperature. I have had to experiment with the spin cycle, as I found clothing was left wetter at the end, than my last machine. This was easily remedied by increasing the spin, and I came to conclusion this was just because it was a different machine.
Intelligent Washing
This A+++ energy rated washing machine is incredibly efficient, and I am convinced it will help reduce my household bills. However energy efficiency doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on the quality of cleaning.
This iSensoric machine features an elaborate, self-regulating system which consists of numerous sensors and an outstandingly intelligent software. Together, they automatically detect, calculate, steer, and control every step of the washing process and treat every single wash load individually. This gives you the perfect washing result, using as little resources as possible.
The WaveDrum design of the washing drum allows for highly effective and extremely gentle laundry care as well.
So as you can see, I am really happy with the Avantgarde iSensoric Washing Machine by Siemens . In my final post, I will provide an overview of the features of the washing machine, and how it coped with holiday washing, post a trip away for all four of us. As we all know this is when a washing machine gets its biggest work out!
