Do you want to see where I blog every day? Well, I thought since I’d tidied my desk (ha!) I’d do a little tour of my office, which is actually the back quarter of the living room.
Desk (with walnut drawers) : Kit out my office.
Because this is where I spend most of my time when I’m writing, the devil really is in the detail, or maybe what I should say in the eclectic clutter, so let me talk through what I have on and around my desk.
I like to surround myself with everything that I need blog wise. Those drawers at the front of my desk are deceptively large, and full of all of my bits and bobs. I also have three baskets underneath my desk with all of my photography equipment in. I’ve just decluttered everywhere (its amazing what you pick up after nearly 6 years blogging) but I’m definitely not a minimal person in style. I think my office area is a pretty good reflection of what my whole house looks like.

As I also run a collaborative travel blog, and I’m always up for the next adventure, I like to have my passport ready for action. That might sound like a joke, but it only half is!

I love fresh flowers, but I’m on a budget, and I can’t afford to buy new flowers every week. I don’t know about you, but I crave them, especially in autumn and winter. Why would you need to buy fresh when you can find faux flowers that look this good.
Radio Hepburn MkII//Prints and Frames Desenio
My office area, is in actual fact a desk and a glass topped console table which you can see in the image above, with a large gallery wall, that acts as a great visual divide to the rest of the living room.
I’ve recently reworked my gallery wall, and added more modern and what worked out to be incredibly affordable prints from the online store Desenio, they sell frames too if you were looking at ordering. There is a great choice on offer and they have suggestions of what prints work together, which I think is really handy if you were looking for inspiration. I went for a mostly monochrome colour way, but with a splash of blue and pink too, to tie in the other half of the room.
My desk (usually underneath) is where I tend to keep items that are pending review, or in the case of beauty products I use them, for around three weeks, then they stay here until I’ve written up the post.
Whilst I’m working I do drink copious amount of tea and coffee. If I’m watching Gilmore Girls reruns, I might indulge in the occasional pop tart – fellow fans will understand!
If I’m trying to concentrate, I don’t tend to like any noise at all apart from the radio.
I’m a big fan of a retro styled radio, and that’s why for me the Hepburn MkII from VQ is a winner, the sound quality is amazing too. Not only is it a DAB radio though, its also a Bluetooth speaker, so it gets lots of use.
I think the below image gives you a real feel for my desk area, as well as the gallery wall. You might notice that I have two lights, well its because in winter time our living room gets dark, so I tend to use these rather than the lights in the rest of the space. The lamp from Habitat on my desk is a soft task light, not too harsh on the eyes, and I love style of it.
I been experimenting with having two chairs at the desk, as it often gets used for homework in the evening. It works well I think.
So there you have it, the place I blog. What do you think…too eclectic or a good mix of modern and vintage?

Such a beautiful space, Amanda. I can see how this is the perfect place to be creative and inspired. My passport is in a very similar position to yours. You don’t want it to be too far away when you get offered the holiday of a lifetime, right? 😉

Ooh I love your office Amanda! You are a wicker basket fan like me, I love the rustic and homely style of that. You have this combined with a nice clean modern edge – it looks like a lovely place to work.

I love the retro radio and gallery wall. It gives me a mental prod that I need to sort the blank wall in our lounge! Those chairs are a lovely design too. Great taste, my friend!
