What’s on your desk? I love looking at other people’s work spaces, what furniture at work they have I find really interesting, as well as what they have around the desk. So I thought I would share mine with you. I work from home, as a blogger, I’ve never been able to work in a library or a coffee-house, like some people in my profession do. I don’t have a separate room for my office (we just don’t have the space to do this anymore) however I love the home office I’ve created. I’ve divided it up from the rest of the room (my living room) by carefully using furniture to divide the space. As well as my choice of framed prints, that are a gallery wall in my office area, and further apart in the rest of the living room. It just makes it look and feel more enclosing and cosy I think.
I have a fairly large desk with two drawers. Large enough to host my laptop and a few other items. I love having flowers or a plant on my desk. I’ve actually currently got both with some faux flowers and tiny little pilea I propagated. Having things like this around me whilst I work makes such a difference to how I feel about the space. It brings it alive! I also have thing to remind me of my travelling, and alway have my passports to hand, just in case!
I often have items that I’m writing about on the desk too, at the moment that will be things for my Christmas gift guides like make-up, or beauty products I’m testing out. I always have a camera and SD card on my desk too.
To the side of my main desk, I have another unit, that holds notebooks, filing and importantly my radio. It really depends what I’m doing, but throughout the day I seem to go from needing complete silence in order to concentrate, or needing background noise. So I seem to flit between the two, a bit strange probably. I’ve also always got to the side of me my phone and my iPad.
I also have basket and storage tubs under my desk, which have camera equipment such as lenses and tripods. I try to keep everything in the office neat and tiday, and often use my Sunday evening to give it quick tidy, so that Monday morning feels so much easier.
So that’s my home office and desk, what do you think? I love the space, and I think it definitely helps me get creative and productive!
