Choosing the flooring in your home, can be one the most satisfying decisions you make. As the impact can be incredible. I suppose if you think about it, the floors in any home take up the most area of space after the walls and ceiling. So with this in mind, I do think that making a decision on the floor really should be in the forefront of your mind. In my opinion even before the choose the paint!
For this post I’m going to take three different wood effect floor coverings and why they could be the one for you. In the first instance, I do think its good to familiarise yourself with the style and colours of flooring, and a good place to begin that research is Pinterest. Maybe you like a friends flooring, or you’ve fallen in love with a style of floor in your favourite store or restaurant?
Colour
Please keep in mind though, that as a general rule the lighter the floor colour the more airy and contemporary a room will look. Lighter colours also make a room appear larger, while darker colours have the opposite effect. However dark colours can really ground a room, and create amazing contrast as well as add depth and warmth.
The Look & Budget
What’s the look that you would like? Do you want your room to look modern, moody or edgy. Traditional maybe industrial or feel warm and homely? Once you’ve made those kinds of decisions, its important to look at budget, and this will really effect the flooring that you finally choose. Don’t worry, if the budget is small, flooring nowadays has really come on, and the choice at low and high is incredible.
Engineered Wood Flooring
These floors are usually made up of three layers of wood, including a solid wood top layer covered with a protective finish. Luxurious, durable and stable choice, they really do have the look of solid wood, but none of that post-installation work that be so grubby and time-consuming. So no dust, sanding, oiling or painting.

Laminate floor is a multi-layered floor.
It will be resistant to stains, wear and will be easy to keep clean. Used with underlay it will produce a pleasant solid real wood flooring sound. A fantastic choice for family homes with children, pets and heavy traffic.
Luxury Vinyl Floor
Is a synthetic floor featuring a durable surface layer as well as an ultra-protective PU coating, which makes it ideal for spaces that are used intensively. We have it in several rooms including the hallway. You do need to have a good flat and clean surface to lay it well. It’s easy to keep clean and warm underfoot. Luxury vinyl flooring is actually perfect for bathrooms too, and the patterns available can look very realistically like wood.
I do hope I’ve offered you an idea of what to go for, if you are looking to choose a wood effect floor.
