The Caribbean is the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation with the family. But with so many amazing places to see in the Caribbean, it can be difficult to decide where to take the entire family. Although everything in the region is beautiful, each country has its own unique atmosphere. So, if you’re thinking of going for a family holiday to the Caribbean, but aren’t quite sure which places you should go, here are some of our suggestions.
Antigua
Antigua is known for its gorgeous beaches. It’s also a popular destination for sailing, thanks to its steady trade winds. But other than the beaches, there are several other things that can keep you and your little ones busy in Antigua.
During our family holiday in Antigua, we visited Nelson’s Dockyard National Park at the historic English Harbour. We’ve also come across a museum dedicated to Admiral Horatio Nelson and taken part on a guided tour to explore other historic sights on the island. The highlight of the tour is our visit to the Shirley Heights Lookout, which opens to the incredible views of the English Harbour.
Cuba
Cuba offers a wide variety of experiences suitable to families with kids. We were able to relax at the beach and immerse in some cultural experiences as well. Our Cuban family holiday kicked off at Varadero, a popular beach resort town that’s home to a handful of resorts offering all-inclusive holiday packages.
We also had the chance to visit Havana and explored its vibrant architecture, colourful history, and rich culture. The kids had a great time posing in front of the colourful old buildings and vintage cars, while we adults indulged in a glass or two of mojitos!
Roatán
Roatán is a gorgeous island in the Northern coast of Honduras and home to the second largest coral reefs in the world. If your family were fond of diving, then the best advice would be, Roatán would be a perfect holiday destination.
Beyond diving, there’s definitely so much more to experience in this gorgeous Caribbean island. On our holiday, I took the kids for an excursion at the Gumbalimba Animal Sanctuary and Preserve, home to some friendly capuchin monkeys. As we explored the park, we have spotted several other interesting wildlife animals, such as iguanas, some fluffy chickens, toucans, rabbit, and more.
Cancun
While Cancun has built a reputation for being a party destination, it also offers tons of kid-friendly activities, making it a great destination for your Caribbean holiday with the family. With gorgeous beaches, lovely weather, and a wide range of water sports activities, you and your little ones will surely have a blast in Cancun!
There are plenty of resorts in Cancun that cater to families with kids. We stayed at the Club Med Cancun Yucatan resort, which offers child-friendly amenities. From the airport of Cancun, taxi hire was easy going to the resort, which is only less than 30-min drive away.
Jamaica
Jamaica is probably the last thing that comes to your mind when it comes to a family-friendly holiday in the Caribbean. But we were surprised to know that there are actually plenty of family resorts in Jamaica.
Our stay at the Round Hill Hotel and Villas Resort was a truly unforgettable one. The resort has a kid’s club where our little ones had a blast. Plus, their restaurant menu has something for the kids too!
