Well, I love a kitchen gadget, as much as the next person however this is a new one is like nothing I have ever owned before. Not only am I cooking up a storm, but I even feel like a professional whilst I’m using it. So are you ready to hear what it is…
Introducing…the Vitamix Total Nutrition Centre
Now I’ve only being using it for the last two weeks, but I’ve been so impressed I’ve decided to share not only my thoughts about the machine, but also a few recipes I recommend through February, so watch this space, and I will update this post as I publish them.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that a Vitamix is a food blender. This Total Nutrition Centre juices, cooks, grinds and freezes all in one.
Here is a list of the things it can do:
- Create delicious healthy ice cream in only 30 seconds
- Cook steaming hot soup from fresh vegetables in under 5 minutes
- Blend fresh fruits and vegetables into tasty, fibre-rich whole food juice in 1 minute
- Grind whole grains into nutritious flours in minutes
- Kneads dough and batters perfect for baking
- Dice, chop or blend ingredients into healthy, preservative-free salsas and dips
Now one of the interesting things for me is how it can help me and my family eat healthily, perhaps getting more nutrients into our diet. So I plan on showing you some of my recipes to do that, with maybe a treat or two too!
…its impressive power and laser-cut blade design tears down the cell walls of fruits and vegetables, making vital nutrients more readily available for your body to absorb. With a Vitamix®, even the nutrient-packed peels, pulp and seeds of many types of produce can be pulverized and blended into recipes for some of the most health-protecting, disease-preventing dishes and drinks you’ve ever had.
Now it’s not the smallest of gadgets ( H52 x W18.5 x D22.3cm ) and I haven’t got a spare cupboard big enough for it to fit. Why hide it away though, when it looks this handsome and it means being on show I’m using it nearly every day. It been great fun experimenting and every time I make something to eat, I wonder if any of it can be done in the Vitamix. Its feels like a heavy-duty professional quality machine to use. I’m not worried that its going to break when I use it, and with what I think is a 7 yr guarantee, you definitely have peace of mind!
So what do you get with it?
- A poly carbonate 2 litre container, patented spill- proof vented lid and wear-resistant base.
- The base..where the powerful motor is.
- A tamper – You can push food into the blades without fear of jamming the blades or damaging the tamper.
- A comprehensive binder with recipes and instructions on how to use the machine
- A cooking class DVD
Now you know I said this isn’t a blender, well the thing is, it’s not like any of the regular blenders on the market, it’s so powerful and has fans who won’t use anything else, including professional chefs all over the world. It will make peanut butter and ice cream, and well as crushing ice with ease. Now it really did puzzle me how it was going to make soup, and hot. A one pot wonder if you will. Well the blades in the Vitamix container reach speeds fast enough to create friction heat, bring cold ingredients to steaming hot in about six minutes. This depends on what you are cooking and which of the machines that you have, but 6 minutes with no chopping either? This was going to revolutionise my lunch times as well as snacks, desserts and whenever else I could find to use it!
Now I’m not going to lie, when its working, especially on its top speed its noisy, but this is a small price to pay for what it achieves whilst on that top speed.
So overall I have been loving using it, and later today I will be sharing the first of the recipes I have been creating.
Simple and nutritious 6 vegetable soup.
I’ve found some great resources too.
