The warm days of summer are now behind us, and it’s time to embrace the crunchy leaves and chilly evenings of autumn. Although we can no longer spend nights in the garden with a fruity cocktail, there are so many amazing things about autumn, especially the fact that evenings are all about getting cosy – here is how to really embrace the autumn months this year.
Check your heating
Before you know it, it’ll be time to put the central heating on, so your boiler must be ready. Get your boiler regularly serviced and follow the instructions to keep it working as it’s most efficient. Ensure everything is in good working order and head to SuperSaverOil if you are running low on oil. Stock up plenty of oil to last the colder months – it’s better to be prepared before it starts to get too cold!
Get the blankets out.
A blanket basket is a beautiful piece of decor, as well as storing your warmest, most cuddly blankets. Whether you choose fleece throws or knitted blankets, you can get cosy and warm on your sofa while you binge on Netflix or dive into a new novel. You can add really interesting textures to a room by using different materials, and various thickness options allows your guests to layer up as needed for their own temperature levels. Having them placed neatly across the back of your sofa, or stored comfortably in a blanket basket or box means you’ll be more likely to reach for them regularly, rather than feeling as though you have to hunt them down. There’s nothing better than a toasty blanket on a cold night.
Hot chocolate
Indulge in some fun additions to your hot chocolate and really make it a special part of your evenings. Use whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles, and of course, your favourite mug, for ultimate cosy vibes. Try different flavours, from white chocolate to Nutella, and perhaps even an alcoholic version of the classic too!
Candles
Scents have a huge impact on sensations when it comes to those cosy feelings, so treat yourself to a candle that makes you feel warm inside. You could choose something earthy, or perhaps even a candle that smells like freshly baked cookies – whatever makes you feel at home. The flickering glow of a candle is really effective too. You can even get candles that have a special wick that create a crackling noise like a lit fire, which can take it one step further. If you’re a little anxious about the flames, you could use battery-operated tea lights to get the warm glow, and then use electric wax warmers, or even a room spray to get the scent aspect.
There is so much joy to be found in getting cosy in autumn. When it’s raining outside, being curled up with a book, a hot chocolate, and copious amounts of blankets… there really is nothing better!
